Established in 1984 by Dave Baldwin, DCBA celebrates the legacy of a rich and varied landscape architectural and planning practice centered in an equal blend of projects in the public and private sector.  Working with institutions, municipalities, developers, and private clients, our portfolio includes community spaces, parks, master planned communities, places of learning, municipal / government buildings, streetscapes, and various other project types.  DCBA centers it’s practice to the development of creative design solutions which are responsive to the requirements of the site, program, schedule, and budget.

Landscape Architecture

DCBA is committed to the creation of outdoor environments which enrich the way we live, work, and play.  We provide a wide range of professional design services from conceptual design to detailed construction documents and construction observation.

These spaces range in size from small courtyards, to entertainment venues, to monumentation and signage for master-planned communities.

Urban Design

Urban design is place-making.  As landscape architects, DCBA provides the layering of elements to create dynamic spaces in the urban environment.  Our urban design experience includes a broad range of projects including streetscapes, urban parks, and the development of design guidelines.

Successful planning efforts create a framework that yields sustainable economic value, protects and enhances natural systems, and provides quality living environments for people.  DCBA provides master planning services for land developers, municipalities and park and recreation entities.  Our planning efforts have ranged in size from community playgrounds, to multi-mile trails, to a 1,250-acre park master plan.

I have had the pleasure working with DCBA on several of our retail development projects, starting with the Shops of Southlake which required excellent landscape design combined with clear communication skills, working through city and public acceptance for what was a very complex and controversial project. The result is a very successful retail project designed by Dave Baldwin and Marlo Paris which is now enjoyed by the entire community. I have subsequently worked with Marlo on several other of our significant projects, including West Plano Village, a very popular multi-use development on Dallas North Tollway which features a central plaza with a signature fountain and outdoor restaurant seating. She is a exceptional project manager and landscape designer with outstanding skills from concept development through construction management. Marlo and the rest of the DCBA team get my highest recommendation.
