HENDRICK MEDICAL CENTER
Abilene | Texas
For 90 years, Hendrick Medical Center has been the first name in healthcare in Abilene and the Texas Midwest. The present campus includes a 522-bed medical center, a women’s center, rehabilitation hospital, cancer center, and numerous other innovative services. More than 3,000 staff members encompass HMC’s team of employees.
With continuing surrounding property acquisition and future expansion of the campus, HMC retained the planning team of Gossman Group and DCBA Landscape Architecture to develop concepts for future development, basically concentrating on four areas of the existing campus and future development. The primary task for the design team was to 1) develop stronger gateway entries, 2) improve vehicular and pedestrian connectivity, and 3) generally enrich the campus experience.
The priority for HMC is to create a new entry through new land acquisition on the eastern sector of the campus. This area has frequent flooding of streets during high rain events. DCBA developed a concept for this area which included options for street re-routing, future building pad options, and a new entry development combined with proposed detention ponds to solve the flooding problems.

McKinney corporate center at craig ranch
McKinney | Texas
Entering into a public/private partnership with the City of McKinney, the owners of Craig Ranch have begun the development of 185-acres for a new corporate campus appealing to business tenants. Craig Ranch is a 2,200-acre master-planned business, retail, and residential community on the north side of State Highway 121 (Sam Rayburn Tollway) in McKinney, Texas. DCBA was enlisted to develop visual identity for the project emphasizing views from S.H. 121. This included the design of descending monuments of stone and metal which wrap around a pond with a tall fountain. The monuments are further emphasized with colored lighting to make the corporate center especially noticeable at night. Other features of the project include a pond overlook, trails, streetscape development, and a roundabout to eventually contain monumental artwork.

Waco | Texas
Located on the prime intersection of Interstate Highway 35 and S.H. 6, this 159-acre commercial land development promises to be a premier destination point for central Texas. Restaurant and commercial building sites surround the project’s central feature, a 10-acre multi-level lake. DCBA designed the lake amenities including a central feature area with a waterfall, outdoor plaza for large group functions, trellises for shade, and a playground - all meant to encourage the public to eat, take a stroll, and have fun.
DCBA designed Legend Crossing’s primary entries featuring rough stone terraces with native plantings contrasting with intersecting polished granite monument walls. Iconic sculptural elements were also designed to bring interest to a roundabout in the project.
