Dave, the founder of DCBA, has dedicated his career in helping clients achieve the vision they have for their projects.  After being raised in farmlands of central-east Pennsylvania and studying Ornamental Horticulture at a small private college for two years, his adventuresome spirit led him to Louisiana where his love of plants coalesced with his artistic abilities, culminating with a degree in landscape architecture from Louisiana State University in 1975.  Moving to Dallas in 1976, he gained valuable experience working under the tutelage of a number of highly respected landscape architects.  During this time, he realized his true love of the profession and the desire to form his own company in which he wanted to establish the personalized services a small firm could offer.    Establishing DCBA in 1984, Dave has enjoyed all aspects of the business of landscape architecture and has provided the inspiration and directive for the firm’s success. As a landscape architect and artist, Dave provides the creative force for the firm, relying on a very talented and experienced group of employees to develop his thoughts and vision for the many interesting and challenging projects with which the firm undertakes.  The dedicated staff of DCBA have benefited greatly from Dave’s well-rounded career and carry on the professionalism he has established for the firm. Dave is a Texas registered landscape architect and also holds registration in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, North Carolina, Virginia, and Minnesota.  He also is registered with the Council of Landscape Architecture Boards. As an additional creative outlet, Dave is also an accomplished artist.  His oil paintings can be viewed at www.buzzbaldwin.net .

Being parks director for a number of cities, my project history of building parks is very long. When I visit the many parks or streetscapes that I call “mine”, many of those that I am most proud of were the ones designed by Dave Baldwin and his team. These projects have a strong initial impact and have withstood the test of time. DCBA is my decision choice for many reasons: creativity, attention to detail, quality control, and ability to meet budgets and project timelines. I am often asked to give referrals to other cities and when asked who I would recommend for Landscape Architectural design services, DCBA is always at the top of the list.
— Rhoda Savage, Director of Parks and Recreation, CITY OF McKINNEY, TEXAS
